TWM - TOTAL WHEELSET MANAGEMENT
Increasing operational requirements and legal framework conditions demand secure and seamless monitoring of fleets and efficient maintenance planning. The TWM-Total Wheelset Management software developed by HEGENSCHEIDT-MFD supports maintenance companies in maintaining a complete overview of data management, maintenance planning and control of all wheelset-related maintenance processes.
Vertical Turning Centers for machining of Railway Wheels
Our vertical Turning Centers for machining of Railway Wheels guarantee economical and permanently accurate complete machining of ring-shaped, difficult-to-machine workpieces of various materials and sizes. The machines are used in particular in the railway sector for the new production of (high-speed) railway wheels and die molds. The construction of the machines is designed for high cutting forces combined with high accuracies. Automatic tool and workpiece measurement as well as various process monitoring systems ensure operator-free production. With our vertical Turning Centers for machining of Railway Wheels, workpieces with a max. diameter of 1600mm and a max. weight of 2000kg can be processed reliably. Due to the solid constructional basis of the RQ series, not only railway wheels and die molds of various designs can be completely machined, but also ring-shaped, difficult-to-machine workpieces from the aerospace and bearing industries. Thanks to the modular design of our machines, we are also able to integrate a wide variety of technologies and machining concepts on a component-specific basis, such as drilling, threading or pocket milling. Our turning centers are also characterized by their high cutting performance, minimum non-productive times and excellent automation capabilities, which we are also able to realize within the group.
Abovefloor Portal Wheelset Lathes
Our abovefloor portal wheelset lathes guarantee high productivity and machining quality in the field of wheelset maintenance and are available in various designs. Wheelsets with a running circle diameter of min. 500mm and max. 1400mm can be machined. The gantry design creates ideal freedom of movement for loading (roll-through operation) and operation of the machine. In addition, thanks to this design principle, the turning supports are arranged overhead, ensuring free chip fall with fast chip removal. The machines are also characterized by a high degree of automation, short clamping and unclamping times, short setup times, and a long service life.
Underfloor Wheelset Lathes
Our underfloor wheelset lathes provide high precision and economical machining of wheelsets for high speed trains as well as local trains in mounted and unmounted condition. Due to two different sizes, wheelsets with wheel diameter between 350 mm and 1400 mm can be efficiently reprofiled. The modern underfloor wheelset lathes not only meet all currently known machining and accuracy requirements, but their design is additionally geared toward future developments. The machines are universally applicable, dynamically rigid, and particularly operator- and service-friendly. As pioneers in wheelset reprofiling, our machines represent the highest current standard in wheelset machining technology. A tandem version is also available for simultaneous machining of wheelsets in bogies with mechanically uncoupled axles. With the new patented double tandem machine, two bogies are machined simultaneously.
Mobile Abovefloor Wheelset Lathe
Our Mobiturn® mobile abovefloor wheelset lathe provide precise, on-demand vehicle maintenance with short downtimes and high vehicle availability. The world's first and only mobile wheelset machining system incorporates the technology of underfloor wheel set lathes and drives to the rail vehicle as a mobile system. It can be transported to the job site by rail or road. Wheels, wheelsets, and brake disks are machined both in installed and removed condition.
Abovefloor Wheelset Milling Machines
Using proven Stanray® wheel profile milling technology, our above-ground wheel profile milling machine for restoring worn wheel profiles on individual wheelsets or complete bogie assemblies guarantees fully automated measuring and cutting cycles while handling extreme wheel wear conditions. The machine's centerless operation allows for a simplified design that requires neither a pit nor a special foundation, making it an economical choice.
Underfloor Wheelset Milling Machines
Using proven Stanray® wheel profile milling technology, our underfloor wheel set milling machine for reprofiling wheel treads on passenger and light rail vehicles guarantees fully automated measuring and cutting cycles while handling extreme wheel wear conditions. The machine's centerless operation enables quick and easy set-up without the need to remove bogie components or access axle centers.
Wheelset Presses
Our wheelset presses provide reliable assembly and disassembly of wheel set components. Wheelset maintenance and production facilities worldwide rely on these robust machines. The spectrum ranges from a simple disassembly press with one press cylinder to single- and double-cylinder presses for pressing on both wheels in one clamping operation to the world's first high-end assembly press with two press cylinders for simultaneous pressing on of both wheels. Accordingly, the applications range from use in low production wheelset repair shops to highly automated high capacity wheelset production facilities.
Wheelset Diagnosis
Our ARGUS wheelset diagnostic system provides fully automatic, precise, and rapid monitoring of wheel sets in drive-through operation by means of modern, economical measurement methods and documentation in the database. The system enables monitoring of the ever-tighter tolerances and operating limits required for increasing speeds as well as enhancing safety, ride comfort, and operational reliability. The modular design of the wheelset diagnostic system allows economical adaptation to the customer's measurement requirements. In addition, workshop organization and logistics are improved by exact knowledge of the wheelset condition and a wear forecast, with the ultimate goal of increased vehicle availability being realized.
Rerailing Systems
Due to their significant weight reduction, our light metal rerailing systems provide high flexibility and safety in the rerailing process, and comfortable handling. Our portfolio includes systems for lifting and lowering, shifting, raising and pulling, driving, and controlling as well as towing of rail vehicles. In addition, we offer various accessories such as high-pressure hoses, hose connectors, manifolds, and bogie hangers precisely tailored to your requirements. By means of our individual carrier vehicles, which are designed as combined road and rail vehicles, rerailing components can be brought to the place of operation quickly. We utilize a special hydraulic system that replaces the pump unit and control panel previously required.
