Grinding Technology

Grinding Processes - Surface fine and finish machining down to the µ

Grinding processes are machining processes for the fine and finish machining of surfaces on components using geometrically indeterminate cutting edges with rotating tools. In particular, very hard materials such as hardened steels can be machined to meet requirements. Depending on the production task, our modern grinding machines can be used for both rough machining for particularly high material removal and high-precision processes for maximum surface quality. Depending on requirements, we can also integrate individual grinding operations into our universal machining and production centers to save on additional individual machines.

External  circular Grinding

Here you can see the technology External circular Grinding

External circular grinding is a fine machining process with a geometrically undefined cutting edge for the efficient hard-fine machining of mostly rotationally symmetrical external surfaces of components.  External circular grinding wheels with a width of up to 250 mm are used and are brought into contact with the surface to be machined in a plunge-cut process or in a longitudinal grinding process with optimized cooling lubricant supply. We carry out these processes on our specialized external grinding centers for components up to 5000 kg and 5000 mm in length, as well as process-integrated on our internal and universal grinding centers and our turning-milling machining centers. The focus is always on achieving µm-accurate surface quality with simultaneous long-term accuracy.

Internal circular Grinding

Here you can see the technology Internal Circular Grinding

Internal circular grinding is a fine machining process with a geometrically undefined cutting edge for the efficient fine machining of bores on chuck- and shaft-shaped components such as internal cylinders, internal polygons, or internal threads. Specific internal grinding tools are used and are brought into engagement with the surface to be machined in a plunge-cut process or in a longitudinal grinding process with optimized coolant supply while the workpiece is rotating. We carry out these processes with µm precision both on our specialized internal grinding centers and process-integrated on our external and universal grinding centers.

Form Grinding

Here you can see the technology Form Grinding

Form grinding involves the multi-dimensional grinding of complex forms such as spherical forms, rolling bearing raceways, and profiles. Here, classic external grinding processes are adapted to the specific workpiece geometry by means of axis interpolation. This allows a wide variety of workpieces and geometric shapes to be produced on our grinding centers in a process-integrated manner.

Universal Grinding

Here you can see the technology Universal Grinding

Universal grinding includes 4-sided grinding of all common chuck and shaft shaped workpieces in one clamping by combining internal and external grinding processes. We carry out these processes with µm precision on our specialized universal grinding centers and can realize even the most complex processes with optimized cycle times. Depending on the requirements, up to four internal grinding spindles and three external grinding tools as well as other special modules can be used to design processes that are as efficient, resource-saving, and time-saving as possible.
