NILES-SIMMONS-HEGENSCHEIDT supports the Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 with a generous commitment as a gold sponsor
Chemnitz, August 01, 2024 - The machine tool manufacturer NILES-SIMMONS-HEGENSCHEIDT (NSH Group) moves over a billion people worldwide every day with its technologies. The decision to promote Chemnitz as European Capital of Culture 2025 is based on our conviction that cultural diversity and creative initiatives are essential pillars for a sustainable and innovative society.
The NSH Group is supporting the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 with a generous sponsorship. This commitment is intended to help preserve the region's cultural heritage, provide new impetus and draw international attention to Chemnitz. As a group of companies with our headquarters in Chemnitz, we see it as part of our social responsibility to contribute to the cultural development and positive image of our home city. The European Capital of Culture initiative offers Chemnitz a unique opportunity to do so. Traditionally, industry and culture have always been closely linked in Chemnitz. For decades, the NSH Group has supported countless projects in the city in the fields of sport, art and culture.
"We are proud to be part of this important European initiative and to be actively involved in shaping the future of Chemnitz," says Jörg Hellmann, CFO of the NILES-SIMMONS-HEGENSCHEIDT Group. "As a globally active company with deep roots in Chemnitz, we want to promote cultural diversity and creative exchange, which are of great importance for the further development of our city and also for us as a company. We hope that our commitment, as a globally successful high-tech company, will increase the attractiveness of Chemnitz and, of course, we are also counting on a reverse effect."
With our sponsorship, we are supporting various projects and events as part of the Capital of Culture year, which will sustainably increase awareness and quality of life in Chemnitz. We are convinced that this investment in culture will also have a positive economic and social impact.
Tales of Transormation - special exhibition at the Museum of Industry
As part of the Capital of Culture 2025, the Chemnitz Museum of Industry is comparing the development of former industrial hotspots in its major exhibition "Tales of Transformation". This includes the history of our Chemnitz site of the NSH Group on Zwickauer Straße - then and now one of the city's most important industrial companies.
In addition to the exciting development of the city of Chemnitz up to the current transformation processes, the Bulgarian Gabrovo, the Polish Łódź, the English Manchester, the French Mulhouse and the Finnish Tampere are also highlighted - all cities that are emblematic of European industrialization, its collapse and the resulting challenges with regard to a necessary reinvention and dealing with the industrial cultural heritage.
The exhibition sheds light on the impulses for the future coming from these cities and what they can learn from each other.
In addition to the development processes of the cities from the 19th century to the present day, the exhibition also takes visitors through the stories of people and industrial buildings of the 19th century.
This also includes the history of our Chemnitz site of the NSH Group on Zwickauer Straße - then as now one of the most important industrial companies in the city. We are proud to be a part of this important historical epoch of our city and as such to be able to help shape this exciting exhibition.
We therefore cordially invite you to accompany us, the city of Chemnitz and a large number of "European Manchester" on a journey from the past to the present and to pay a visit to the Chemnitz Industrial Museum.
